The Ropeworks team
It's our friendly & motivated team that makes Ropeworks that little bit special. Here are a few of them that you may meet during your visit.

Jonny - originally from Switzerland (that's why he likes the mountains), Jonny combines school teaching (science) with outdoor activity instructing. He admits prefering to lead a mountain hike than teaching the theory of relativity in a classroom. He also enjoys warm croissants for breakfast & salami sandwiches.

Jessie - a graduate from Newcastle University, Jessie has just returned after spending time teaching in southern India. Jessie climbs, cycles & skis & will be honing her parallel turns on the slopes for a few weeks before our busy springtime arrives. Everybody's calorie consumtion increases when Jessie is with us because of her excellent baking skills - banana loaf & cup cakes being her specialities.

Steve - an intrepid cyclist, Steve puts us all to shame by always biking in to work...a round trip of 75 miles. However, his ride in is just a stroll in the park(!) compared to some of his other jaunts. He recently participated in the world famous "Paris-Brest-Paris" ride...1200km in 90 hours.

Steff - another keen cyclist, Steff has just started his "International Development Studies with Social Anthropology & Politics" degree (try saying that quickly). He knows an awful lot about trees & mushrooms. On one of his recent fungal forages, he sniffed out a considerable crop of Chanterelle mushrooms. He's keeping the location secret after discovering that they're selling for £55 a kg in Selfridges.

Magi Lucy - an undergraduate of Bangor University. Local girl Magi, loves meeting all the different people that come to Ropeworks. She is a keen climber & as an enviromentalist & nature lover, will point out all the wildlife visible from the top of our tower.

David - Company Director. There's a good chance you'll chat with David when you make your booking & meet him in Ropeworks reception upon your arrival. A big footie fan who still occasionaly shows off his silky skills but spends most of his spare time riding, grooming & mucking out the area's horse population.

Meg - leads a double life. She alternates her time between North Wales & the South East, where she does Youth Community work. She enjoys kayaking & loves natural water swimming in the beautiful (albeit always very cold) lakes that we have in our area. After a hard day instructing at Ropeworks, she often rewards herself with a Feast ice cream

Jen - As well as being a first class cyclist & kayaker, local lass Jen is able to knock out your fireplace, plaster your walls & basically perform any form of diy home improvement task you require. Jen instructs on both High Challenge & Aerial Adventure & every now & again enjoys a toffee crisp.

Sophie - local girl & marine scientist. Sophie is currently studying for her phd in Bangor. She's a bit of an outdoorsie alrounder, enjoying climbing, biking, camping etc. Sophie also enjoys playing the piano & checking out the bargains in Aldi.

Nick - Company Director. You probably wont see too much of Nick . . he kind of comes out after dark or when the course is closed, to carry out the all important course inspections or extensions. Nick works with Jonny (top of this page) on all Instructor training and development. His background is in Construction Engineering, Mountaineering Instruction and Leading High Altitude Mountaineering Expeditions around the world. Another one of Ropeworks' keen cyclists, Nick is alway in search of the next big road climb in UK or the Alps!

Toni - an excellent climber. In the past, she has assisted student expeditions to India, Costa Rica & Nicaragua but is currently honing her wakeboarding skills. Together with her partner George, she also runs a lovely B&B near Harlech http://www.gwynfrynhouse.co.uk/ - the local butcher's sausages included in the cooked breakfast are to die for.

Omid - local lad & a graduate of Bangor University. Omid is our "International Man of Mystery" (we think he went to Spain once). He is currently restoring his traditional stone cottage, deep in the foothills of Snowdonia - it has to be said, he's doing a beautiful job. Omid is a Tae Kwon Do green belt, so make sure you behave if he happens to be your Instructor.

Mike - another school teacher. Mike spends lots of his time abroad but always seems to eventually migrate back to this beautiful part of the world. Recently, he has been working in Malaysia with an international school. His epic worldly wanderings are infamous, a recent highlight being his immense cycle from Perth to Melbourne (Australia) across the Nullarbor Plain - check the route & distance out on a map...nobody heard from him for months!
